Position and Affiliations

I am an Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Radiology and School of Biomedical Engineering. I am also a member of the MS/MRI Research Group in the Division of Neurology. My research interests are centered around the application of computer vision and machine learning methods to the quantitative analysis of medical images. My current primary research direction is the use of MRIs for clinical prognostication and improving the understanding of neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis.

Because of the interdisciplinary nature of my work, I collaborate with many other researchers. Among those with whom I have worked closely are Drs. David Li and Anthony Traboulsee of the MS/MRI Research Group, Dr. Ghassan Hamarneh of the MIAL lab, Dr. Alex Mackay and his team at the UBC MRI Research Centre, and Dr. Rafeef Garbi of the BiSICL lab.

Academic Lineage

I completed my PhD in the Department of Computer Science at UBC in 2004, under the supervision of Drs. Alain Fournier and Wolfgang Heidrich.
